Tools of the Trade: How SlicerDicer in the EMR Can Be Utilized in the Research Enterprise

Entering and reviewing EPIC records is a core workflow of the modern healthcare system. Large scale review of said data is a lesser known workflow, until now. In this presentation the EPIC tool "SlicerDicer" is put on full display for the benefit of EPIC users of any level. Topics covered include what is "SlicerDicer", how to use it, and specific use cases including:

• aggregate data for general study feasibility 
• cohort identification for research hypothesis generation/grant submission
• recruitment options for physicians (after proper IRB approval & if proper access).
