Data governance is a broad topic that covers who owns data, who is responsible for security and compliance, usage, sharing and more. While all laboratories generate data and knowledge, it is when human subjects are involved that these issues take on a very serious tone. We will discuss these critical issues in the context of human research, and differentiate when non-human data is governed differently.
