Women in Medicine and Science / Kate Mangino Partner Equity Workshop

Seminars & Lectures

Tuesday, May 23, 2023
3:00 pm - 5:00 pm
@ Biomedical Research Tower- Room 115

Please join us for a discussion about our culture's gender expectations and the link between household duties and work capacity. Kate Mangino, author of Equal Partners: Improving Gender Equality at Home, will facilitate this in-person interactive session that looks at recent data around cognitive labor, and leads participants to discuss the impact our household responsibilities have on our own work capacity and performance. Everyone is welcome - including your partner! But this session is not just for those in long-term relationships; everyone is welcome no matter your relationship status (partnered, single or divorced,) parenting status (little, big, or no kids) or gender identity (all gender identities and sexual orientations welcome.)

Kate Mangino, PhD is a gender expert who works with international organizations to promote positive social change. She has written and delivered curricula in over 20 countries about issues such as women's empowerment, healthy masculinity, HIV prevention, and early and forced childhood marriage. She brings her lens of social change to her debut book, Equal Partners, to offer practical advice as to what each of us can do to rewrite gender norms. Kate has published in Time and Slate; Equal Partners has been featured in The Atlantic, CNN, BBC World News and The Guardian.

Registration Deadline: Friday, May 12, 2023
