From Bench to Bedside: How Data Analytics and Convergence Science are Transforming Lives

The CCTS Translational Innovation Program is proud to partner with the Center for Medical and Engineering Innovation (CMEI) to invite you to meet and learn from Kevin Ward, MD, from the University of Michigan, during his two-day visit to The Ohio State University as part of the CMEI-Visiting Interdisciplinary Science in Translation (VISIT) Scholars Program (hyperlink).  

Dr. Ward is a well-known serial clinician innovator and entrepreneur in the fields of Emergency and Critical Care medicine. He is also an Emergency Medicine physician with significant biomedical engineering accomplishments, including work using machine language/AI to interpret electrocardiography signals and predict changes in patient stability in the intensive care unit. 

Dr. Ward's passion is in creating programs which encourage true integration across the disciplines of medicine, engineering, data sciences, and entrepreneurship that accelerate discovery to true patient impact. In addition to founding the Max Harry Weil Institute for Critical Care Research and Innovation, he led the design and implementation of Michigan Medicine's Fast Forward Medical Innovation (FFMI) program and served as its inaugural executive director from 2013-2018.  

Dr. Ward has been the recipient of a Certificate for Patriotic Civilian Service by the Department of the Army and the Joint Special Operations Training Center, as well as Innovation and Commercialization awards from Virginia Commonwealth University, the University of Michigan Medical School, and the Department of Defense.
