The Office of Knowledge Enterprise | Research Development Office is please to collaborate with The Ohio State University Center for Clinical and Translation Science (CCTS) to host a seminar on "Understanding Medical/Biomedical Research Opportunities across the US Department of Defense."

The seminar will feature a presentation and Q&A session with Dr. Martin LaFrance. Dr. LaFrance is employed as a Senior Researcher at the Henry M. Jackson Foundation for the Advancement of Military Medicine.  He has twenty-five years of experience leading defense science and technology organizations at the laboratory, regional and corporate headquarters levels for innovation and technology advancement. He most recently served as Chief, Capability Development, within the Office of the Air Force Surgeon General. This session is open to all faculty at The Ohio State University but will be of particular interest to those working in biomedical and clinically applicable research spaces. During his presentation, Dr. LaFrance will provide an overview of the military health and medical/biomedical research funding opportunity landscape, including such things as the Defense Health Agency, Branch Initiatives, Joint Program Committees, and opportunities within the Congressionally Directed Medical Research Programs (CDMRP). He will also discuss best practices for engaging with DOD program officials and for developing successful proposals.
