Recruitment and Retention Program Highlight

Learn About Recruitment and Retention Successes

First program highlight is our Recruitment and Retention Program.

They have numerous events coming up to communicate the importance about participating in clinical trials.

Recruitment and Retention is also seeing increased success in recruiting for clinical trials on Facebook.

Upcoming Events and Successes

RIC symposium - The symposium will provide a venue for us and other colleagues from across the nation to share the successful work, strategies, and tools we have created related to recruitment and retention of research participants. Speakers from across the institutions will present in short segments and then take questions from the audience in a panel style. Clara and Mary have been asked to speak regarding effective strategies to raise awareness about clinical research (e.g., social media, material development etc.)

Recruitment Café – held once a quarter and is designed to leverage the experience of study teams as they attempt to navigate the recruitment and retention landscape and consist of a short PowerPoint presentation (approx. 20-25 minutes) by our featured speaker followed by an open discussion/questions amongst attendees. By offering these Café’s and gathering individuals involved in research and focusing on recruitment and retention of participants, it is our hope that this opportunity helps develop best practices and a network of resources. Upcoming topic will be a discussion about MyChart for Recruitment, another recruitment tool we offer to researchers to help them meet their recruitment goals.

Healthy Community Day 2023- held at Outpatient East at the beginning of summer, we once again will have a presence here. The aim of Healthy Community Day is to address the health issues associated with lack of access to care. From our standpoint, this event helps promote what the CCTS has to offer, and not just the CCTS Recruitment Services Program, but many other terrific organizations within The Ohio State University Wexner Medical Center. Last year we enjoyed walking around networking with other vendors, all while sharing the importance of participating in research.

Buck-i-Frenzy – this will be a new event for us to be a part of this year since COVID prevented this event from happening the last several years. For those of you who are not familiar with Buck-i-Frenzy, it is a festival held annually during Ohio State’s popular Welcome Week. One of the key benefits of having a presence at this event is that we will have direct access to over 20,000 Ohio State students where we will be able to feature who we are, what we do, the importance of participating in research, and just be able to reach a population that is often overlooked and underutilized in research.

Walk to End Alzheimer’s – this will be a new event for us to be a part of this year on September 24, 2023. Mary and Clara will have a table at the event promoting the importance of participating in research.

 Facebook Ad Testimonial

"Simply put- our study would not have been this successful without the access and support of the Recruitment and Retention Program through CCTS. The team comprised of Mary Becker, Clara Kalis and Brooke Crockett, was indispensable in creating effective recruitment materials, namely flyers, postcards and Facebook Ads to target our sampling frame (women gun owners), and a tricky one at that. Each member of the team was incredibly responsible and supportive- promptly responding to questions and requests, clarifying procedures in using these materials, and describing why specific features were included. We are firmly on track with participant recruitment and enrollment, which would not have occurred without their help. Thank you, Mary, Clara and Brooke for making recruitment and retention virtually effortless!"- Rosie Bauder, Assistant Professor - Clinical Medicine - Psychiatry
