Q: What is your role at CCTS?

April Green with blue BB8 Star Wars character

A: CCTS Regulatory Program Manager, in this role I provide guidance and education on IND and IDE submissions to the FDA, assist with prior approvals for research protocols funded by NCATS, complete protocol and consent form reviews/consultations, and support the CCTS Data Safety Monitoring Board.

Q: How do you think the CCTS is impacting medicine?

A: By assisting with the process to turn research into discoveries, the CCTS helps to improve the health of individuals and the public.

Q: What is one thing you want everyone to know about the CCTS?

A: The CCTS has so many different resources to help researchers manage their research.  We provide services such as voucher funding, community engagement, recruitment and retention, regulatory support, educational opportunities and so much more.

Q: What is your favorite thing about the CCTS?

A: Being a part of such a wonderful team that is contributing to the innovative research across the university community.

Q: What do you do in your pass-time?

A: I love to garden, hike, cook and spend time with my family.

Q: What was your dream job when you were a kid?

A: When I was a young child, I wanted to be a pediatric nurse so that I could help kids who were sick and bring some joy to their day.

Q: What's your typical day like?

A: I have a lot of variety within my days, so I like to prepare for my day the night before. In the mornings, I like to start my morning rush with a cup of home brewed coffee, get my kids off to school and begin my workday. During my workday, I could be attending DSMB meetings, reviewing a protocol, providing support for FDA submissions or developing regulatory templates for future use. At the end of the day, we gather as a family for dinner and then we either complete our extra-curricular activities, play games, work on projects or relax before preparing for the next day.

Q: If you could have a meal with 3 famous people (dead or alive), who would they be and why?

A: Elon Musk because I’d love to have the opportunity to talk with him about his scientific empire, especially Neuralink, which brings a lot of hope to those affected by TBI. J.K. Rowling to thank her for her writing that has brought so much joy to my life and now the lives of my children. The Christmas Pig was one of their favorites. Finally, I’d choose Keanu Reeves because he seems like he’d be a fun person to have a meal with.

Q: What is your proudest moment?

A: Earning my undergraduate degree as a first-generation college student. It came with a lot of challenges, but I took them one at a time and was able to achieve what I set out to do.

Q: Favorite band/song?

A: There are so many, its hard to choose just one.
