CCTS Staff Sessions

Meet Ali Hinkle

Q: What is your role at CCTS? Senior Marketing and Communications Consultant. I oversee the marketing and communication efforts at the CCTS.

A: I work in collaboration with teams at the CCTS, Ohio State College of Medicine and Nationwide Children’s Hospital, to promote programs and services the CCTS offers to faculty, staff and the scientific research community.

Q: How do you think the CCTS is impacting medicine?

A: We help remove barriers in the scientific research process to ultimately bring scientific discovery to new therapies and medical advancements to improve human health.

Q: What is one thing you want everyone to know about the CCTS?

A: We are here to educate and help researchers at all levels of their careers with their trials and studies. We provide services for just about every aspect of the research process from grant writing to recruitment and retention, to data collection and multi-site trial collaboration.

Q: What is your favorite thing about the CCTS?

A: The people I work with. Everyone is so talented in what they do and passionate about advancing the translational science and research process. I am so inspired by my colleagues and really excited to be a part of this team.

Q: What do you do in your pass-time?

A:I love to vacation on the beach with my husband – doesn’t matter what beach, just bring me sand, sun and the sounds of waves and seagulls! I also love spending time with my 4-year old daughter and summer weekends when our family spends the entire day outside together, hanging out and grilling.

Q: What was your dream job when you were a kid?

A: A rock star – JEM and the Holograms was my very favorite show as a kid (for anyone who remembers it) and I was going to be just like her!

Q: What's your typical day like?

A: Once I’m up for the day I wake up my daughter, get her dressed, fed and out the door. On our drive to her preschool, we share with each other what we are grateful for that day, I really treasure those moments with her each morning. After dropping her off I head to my computer and do my work for the day. When it's shutting down time I head out for a walk. I walk outside pretty much every day, unless it’s raining or snowing and I find this time to be super helpful for my overall well-being and mental health. After walking, my husband and daughter are getting home from work and school and it’s time to make dinner.

Q: If you could have a meal with 3 famous people (dead or alive), who would they be and why?

A: Ruth Bader Ginsburg, Betty White and Dolly Parton. These women are what I aspire to be like - strong, impactful, witty and kind.

Q: What is your proudest moment?

A: Watching my daughter grow and learn new things every day. It’s amazing how quickly she is growing up and developing into her own little person. Sometimes I look at and her and am just amazed that she came from me!

Q: Favorite band/song?

A: I go through phases with music and my favorites rotate. Los Campesinos is an indie-pop band from Wales that I really love and I can always fall into some 90s alternative or alt-pop.
