The four K scholars had been meeting as a group and individually for several weeks with Acacia Duncan, Executive Communication Coach and Trainer with Articulation.  The training provided by Ms. Duncan and Articulation is designed to help scientists be more concise, more confident, and more engaging in their communications.

The CCTS provides this training to K scholars because communication that is clear and engages listeners can lead to funding for more discoveries, adoption of new treatments, improved public policy, new collaborations, and inspire others to appreciate science.

The STEAM Factory is a collaboration space designed to enhance and drive innovation within all research disciplines by creating interdisciplinary interactions between Ohio State departments and colleges; and
to increase the public awareness, understanding and impact of Ohio State research.

STEAM is located in the 400 W. Rich Street building in Franklinton.  Here, a 100 year old warehouse has been turned into creative arts space, restaurant, and place to be. On the first Friday of the month, it is Franklinton Friday, when the galleries are all open, the STEAM factory hosts speakers, and people come  from all over Columbus to experience art and science in Franklinton. This was the context in which the CCTS trainees spoke about the research that is supported by their KL2 Mentored Career Development Grants.
