CCTS Staff Sessions
Meet Tiffany Bernard!
Q: What is your favorite thing about the CCTS?
A: The people I work with, from the staff I manage, to the faculty I have the pleasure of working with. We all really care about the work that we are doing. We are always discussing the next resource we can develop. Also, I have always been passionate about helping others. I had a high-stress job for a number of years in the Critical Care at Medical Center where I was able to do that… I love that my work at the CCTS and the work of my colleagues, help people in a different way (without all that stress). We help researchers with their projects but we also help find ways to connect with the people of Columbus to inform them of ways they can get involved in research from being a research participant or even being part of our community engagement advisory boards.
Q: What do you do in your pass-time?
A: I play with my 4-year-old son. He loves Legos and Magna-tiles, so I have become an expert builder. Since it is summer, I also get to work in my garden! And I am totally guilty of staying up late to read a good book or watch Netflix.
Q: What's your typical day like?
A: On a workday, checking my emails from the night before as I drink my first cup of coffee (I love a good Dark Roast). Checking my calendar and preparing for my day. This could include any last-minute prep for a meeting, sending follow-up emails, etc. Then I usually start having meetings. Throughout the day I will answer emails and IMs, helping staff with different questions, and sometimes hopping on a call to work through an issue since we are still working from home. Finding time to work on various projects between the normal day-to-day duties.
Q: If you could have a meal with 3 famous people (dead or alive), who would they be and why?
A:
- RGB-What an amazing woman. The many things she did for women's equality are so impressive. She had a seat at the table when women rarely did at that time. She continued her work until the end of her life. She always pushed to inspire.
- Joanna Gaines. I mean come on, who doesn’t love her? She can decorate/design, cook, and survives her husband’s antics with grace.
- Payne Lindsey, I absolutely love his podcast. Sort of obsessed with any of his shows! I think he would be very interesting to talk to.
Q: What is your proudest moment?
A: Completing my MBA. It was definitely a busy time for me. Work full time, attending classes in the evening and a newborn at home. But I finished!
Q: Favorite band/song?
A: So I am not going to lie. I completely struggled with this. So much great music out there. I settled on something that may be a little unconventional but it makes me happy…. The final answer is… Simply the Best, performed by Noah Reid from Schitt’s Creek.
