Clinical Trials Pet Heroes

Congratulations to this month's recipients!

July is Sarcoma Awareness Month, and we are highlighting some of the patients that have participated in our clinical trials for different types of sarcoma tumors, helping our investigators at the Ohio State Veterinary Medical Center to advance research in this field.

Diesel, Dude, and Mindy participated in a clinical trial for soft tissue sarcomas. They received a drug called papaverine, in addition to the standard treatment, with the goal of increasing the effectiveness of radiation therapy.

Nessie, Yeti, Nose, and Skathi participated in a clinical trial for osteosarcoma (bone tumor). In addition to the standard treatment, they received infusions of natural killer cells (NK cells), a type of blood cell, and a component of the natural defense system that controls several types of tumors by limiting their spread.

We love our four-legged participants!
