CCTS Staff Sessions

Meet Alexa Benear!

Q: What is your role at CCTS?

A: I am the Research Budget Analyst for CCTS.

Q: How do you think the CCTS is impacting medicine?

A: CCTS is impacting medicine by helping to fund studies that can make a difference in the medical field and for society as a whole.

Q: What is one thing you want everyone to know about the CCTS?

A: The CCTS doesn’t just provide services for clinical research – we also provide opportunities for other disciplines (public health, veterinary medicine, etc.) and we have career development resources, too.

Q: What is your favorite thing about the CCTS?

A: I appreciate how much we collaborate with other departments across campus and with outside organizations such as Nationwide Children’s Hospital.

Q: What do you do in your pass-time?

A: I’m currently in classes for my MBA, so at the moment, my unfortunate answer to this is lots of homework. But ideally, I love to travel and visit friends, and I really enjoy trying new restaurants in Columbus.

Q: What was your dream job when you were a kid?

A: I thought I was going to be on Broadway. I eventually realized that my dancing skills are nowhere near where they would need to be for that job.

Q: What's your typical day like?

A: I typically drink a bunch of coffee, then my day consists of pulling financial reports in Workday, entering requests, building or updating spreadsheets, analyzing data, and tons of emailing in between all of that.

Q: If you could have a meal with 3 famous people (dead or alive), who would they be and why?

A: Tina Fey, Amy Poehler, and Maya Rudolph. I think it would be a really fun dinner, plus I’d love to hear all of their stories!

Q: Favorite band/song?

A: Leon Bridges or Anderson Paak
