Call for Applications

The Center for Clinical and Translational Science at The Ohio State University is seeking a dynamic and academically-accomplished faculty member to serve as the Director for the CCTS Pilot Translational and Clinical Studies (PTC) Program. The PTC Program Director leads the oversight of the CCTS Pilot Program’s broad portfolio of research funding opportunities and includes the Pilot Request for Application (RFA), Pilot Review Committee, and Pilot Award processes. Additionally, this role oversees and facilitates inter-institutional pilot offerings amongst the CCTS collaborative partnerships. The PTC Program Director also develops tactical plans to expand the CCTS Core Pilot Program and develops best practices to improve Pilot Program efficiency. This position serves as the representative of CCTS partnerships at the university, regional, and national levels.

The CCTS is funded under the NIH Clinical and Translational Science Award. The CCTS has been funded since 2008 and was successfully awarded its next 5 years of funding through 2023.

This CCTS leadership position is associated with up to 8% salary support through the NIH CTSA grant (based upon the NIH cap).

The term for the Program Director will begin October 1, 2018 and continue through the duration of the grant, May 31, 2023.

The Pilot Translational and Clinical Studies Program

The purpose of the CCTS Pilot Translational and Clinical Studies program is to catalyze translation of discoveries to treatments, with a focus on clinical and translational research rather than basic discovery research.  Such research would advance translational science, the discipline focused on understanding and addressing the scientific and organizational challenges underlying each stage of the translational process.

Requirements

The basic requirements, in addition to a willingness to be a dedicated Program Director of the Pilot Translational and Clinical Studies and an active participant of a working committee, stipulate that each candidate must:

1. Be a current OSU or NCH faculty member 
2. Have documented success as a grant writer and reviewer
3. Management of relatively large budgets

Qualifications

Candidates should have a demonstrated ability to lead a program, have recognized experience in the implementation of a broad portfolio of research funding opportunities, have direct proficiency in both basic and clinical research, and working experience with research regulations.

A completed application packet includes: candidate application, a 2-3 page statement, and a CV/biosketch. Once an application is submitted, the CCTS will follow up with a confirmation on the submission materials.

The CCTS Executive Committee will review all applications received to determine the final PTC candidate.
