2017 L-Pilot Awardees

Three OSU CCTS longitudinal pilot (L-Pilot) cross-campus teams advance with new awards

The CCTS Longitudinal (L-Pilot) program was inaugurated in 2014 to incentivize the long-term development of promising interdisciplinary projects towards major success stories (i.e. significant extramural programmatic funding and/or commercialization).

The L-pilot program has funded several interdisciplinary, multi-college teams to develop pilot studies that have the clear potential to transform healthcare or translational science through innovative clinical and translational research. Unlike traditional pilot studies which are limited in scope and time, the L-pilot program requires multidisciplinary teams to design and complete milestone driven studies to advance along the translational spectrum from Phase 1 (may be pre-clinical) to Phase 3 (health impact).

Project management support and matching funds from internal and external stakeholders such as industry represent key cornerstones of the program. Because of the longitudinal nature of the pilot funding mechanism, teams are expected to demonstrate completion of milestones and a clear path forward when they compete with other teams for funding to advance to the next phase. Here are the most recent CCTS L-pilot awards for Phase 2 and Phase 3 studies:
