This one-day training seminar on topics in project management will be facilitated by Jay Johnson, the Associate Director of Institutional Research and Planning at Ohio State. Jay is certified as a Project Management Professional (PMP) from the Project Management Institute and prior to joining OSU, served as the senior technical project manager at AEP and Director of the Higher Education Information System (HEI) at the Ohio Board of Regents.

This seminar intends to identify criteria for project management success, to evaluate current project management practices and techniques, and to give postdocs techniques and tools to help reach their project goals. The agenda includes:

  • An overview of basic project management tools and techniques, which have direct application in the postdoc academic lab setting, grant-driven research and the public and private world of research
  • An interactive workshop to help participants understand the skills necessary to ensure project goals are met along with the abilities to be successful in the management of projects and people.
